General Practitioners
Educating Health Professionals
EDV provides education aimed at other professional groups, including physical and mental health practitioners (non eating disorder specialists).
General Practitioners are the first point of call for people who feel they or a loved one may have an eating disorder. However, eating disorders are extremely complex mental illnesses that require some level of specialist knowledge to ensure symptoms are not confused with other conditions.
EDV can offer training to General Practitioners and other non-specialised health practitioners to help in the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders. Training would typically cover:
- Types of eating disorders
- Warning signs
- Risk factors
- Treatment options and recovery
- Intervention
- Prevention

Presentations, seminars and workshops can be tailored to suit the needs of the participants after discussion with EDV staff.
